Setting Up Your Class Websites in Veracross

Last updated by Chris Meehan on 8/26/2024

These instructions are for building your Veracross class websites, which is done by migrating (copying) the template or previous classes to your current classes. Jason created a great step-by-step video a few years ago that also shows this process; the only difference is that you’ll use the 2024 template (instead of 2020) as a source.

Once you have migrated the template into your class websites, you just need to plug in your information. You can certainly build out your class websites beyond these template pages; however, the information in the template is the minimum required.

If you don't see the template in Veracross, please let Chris and/or Jason know.

If you want to migrate your class from last year to this year, we encourage you to read this Veracross article first. You can only migrate a class in its entirety. Also, note that your “library” is person-specific, not class-specific, so you do not need to migrate your class to get your library of resources. Lastly, if you have migrated your previous class or you begin posting assignments, ensure the dates associated with them are in the correct trimester.

Instructions for Migrating/ Setting Up Veracross Course Websites

1. Open Veracross (Veracross Faculty Portal).

https://portals.veracross.com/berkshire/faculty

2. Click on 'My Library'

3. Click on Setup Classes.

Note: If you would like to reuse a class from last year, you may migrate that instead of using the template. However, this will also move over ALL of your materials, including assignments, pages, etc.

To migrate all materials/ pages/ assignments from a previously taught class, skip ahead to step 11.

4. Click 'Start a New Migration.'

5. As a SOURCE, select the "Template (2024): Template(2024). As mentioned above, you may also select a previous class as a Source but note that this will mean copying everything, including all assignments.

6. Then as a destination, click on the course that you wish to copy over the template to. For example, in the screenshot below, I want to copy the template to my AP Environmental Science (G). You'll want to repeat this process for each of your classes.

Important: Please do not select the template as the destination, which will break the template for others.

7. Then click 'Start Migration'

8. Click "Continue"

9. Now that you have copied (migrated), let’s check that everything is copied correctly and update the placeholders to personalize it to your class.

Return to your Veracross Faculty Portal Page, hover over “Website,” and select “Manage Website.”

10. Click "pages"

11. Now, update the details relevant to your class. Click on "Class Home Page"

12. Click on the field you wish to edit. In this case, "Class Title."

13. The menu bar on the right is where you update the text and make other changes.

14. Go through and update your class description, teacher contact information, and office hours.

15. If you want to do more beyond the basic template, you can add elements such as images, linked files, embedded content, and more by clicking and dragging over the element you wish to add.

16. Once you've updated text or another object, click 'Done.'

17. Now go back and update the next page by selecting "< PAGES."

18. Now follow the same steps for "Syllabus & Class Expectations" and then again for Exam Information. Nothing needs to be updated on the Berkshire School Honor Code page, so you can skip that one.

Note: As mentioned above, you may choose to migrate your entire previous class rather than using the template. Doing this will also move over ALL of your materials, including assignments, pages, etc. The process is almost the same as above.

19. If you would like to migrate a previous class rather than using the template:

Select a Source Class: This is a past class you taught and from which you would like to copy materials. All of your prior classes will be available for selection.

20. Then select your destination where you would like to copy ALL of your materials.

As mentioned above, please be careful not to copy anything onto the Template. In other words, the template should never be listed as the destination.

21. Adjust any assignments' dates, then select Start Migration. Checking and editing pages are the same as above, in steps 9+.
